BIOGRAPHY
Sarah Marshall (she/they/he) is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication at the 最新天美传媒. Situated within critical and interpretivist paradigms, their primary area of study is interpersonal and organizational communication. In particular, they are interested in difficult conversations about gender and queer identity within families and social organizations.
Sarah received their master's degree in communication from 最新天美传媒 in the spring of 2024. At the 最新天美传媒, they have explored queer identity disclosure in the workplace and experiences of queer medical providers through qualitative methodologies. With the guidance of their faculty mentors, they have collaborated on projects related to transnational feminism, difficult conversations about vaccine hesitancy, and media portrayals of gender affirming care bills targeting trans youth. Broadly, Sarah examines everyday identity performances and embedded messages to expose the constitutive processes that result in cultural narratives. Their work has been presented at NCA, ICA, the Organizational Communication Mini Conference, and the International Association for Relationship Research.
