Bio

Dr. Connie Mizak completed her M.S. in Environmental Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where she specialized in the development of policy guidelines to reduce the impact of urban runoff on natural systems. She then earned both a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and an MPH in Environmental Health at the University of South Florida. Her research at USF focused on the environmental and human health impacts of air pollution, with an emphasis on the atmospheric deposition of ammonia to Tampa Bay and the effects of air toxics on community health. Dr. Mizak also studied the integration of environmental science and policy while completing a National Water Research Institute fellowship in Washington, DC, where she worked on drinking water policy issues at the Department of the Interior and the Environmental Protection Agency. She has joined the Department of Geography as Instructor and Undergraduate Advisor in the Environmental Science and Policy program.

Dr. Mizak has taught a variety of courses in the Environmental & Occupational Health and Environmental Science & Policy programs, including: Environmental and Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Intro to Environmental Science Lab, Intro to Environmental Policy, Sustainable Healthy Communities, International Environmental Policy, Environmental Science and Policy Project, Environmental Science Internship, Environmental Science and Policy Seminar.
