BIO

Dr. Edward Jay Friedlander joined 最新天美传媒 in 1995. He passed away in 2020. He was a Professor Emeritus in the School of Mass Communications. He was school director between 1995 and 2010, which is the longest tenure for an administrator in the history of the school. He came to 最新天美传媒 in 1995 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he was chairperson of the Department of Journalism, and where he also held Professor Emeritus rank. He was the co-author of three journalism textbooks used by more than 250 colleges and universities in the United States, including two dozen large state universities and numerous private universities such as Harvard. The books also have been used by dozens of universities in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. In addition, he wrote more than 25 academic articles and grant proposals, edited three annual reports for the Federal Communications Commission and one non-fiction book for St. Martin's Press, and produced one nationally distributed television documentary. Friedlander was a reporter for newspapers in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Arkansas and his freelance work appeared in 40 other newspapers and a dozen national and regional magazines. He received his doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado, his master's degree from the University of Denver and his bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming.
