Curriculum Vitae
I received my PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Research Methods from Colorado State University in 2007 and immediately after headed to Charles Darwin University in Australia for a 3-year post-doc. In 2012, I took a tenure track position at ×îÐÂÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ in the Measurement and Research program where I direct the Certificate in Qualitative Research and coordinate the Interdisciplinary Education PhD program.
My scholarship focuses on ethics and validity of social science research. Drawing on critical, poststructural, and new materialist theories, I explore inquiry as an agential process that simultaneously investigates and creates lives and communities to and for which the researcher is responsible. My work is published in journals such as Educational Researcher, Cultural Studies ↔ Critical Methodologies, Qualitative Inquiry, Qualitative Research, Qualitative Health Research. I co-edited, with Kelly Guyotte, "Philosophical Mentoring in Qualitative Research: Collaborating and Inquiring Together" and the upcoming book, "Expanding Approaches to Thematic Analysis: Creative Engagements with Qualitative Data." I am Chair of the American Educational Research Association's Qualitative Research SIG (QR SIG).
Outside of work, I love backpacking, camping, and hiking in all kinds of biomes, even swamps
