Tintometer鈥檚 Journey to Enhanced Workplace Safety

Tintometer, a renowned supplier of technical instruments and reagents, serves distributors across North, South, and Central America. Their products are crucial for water testing鈥攂oth drinking and industrial鈥攁nd color measurement systems, catering to a wide range of industries that rely on precise and reliable testing solutions.

The story begins with a previous employee who introduced Tintometer to the OSHA On-site Consultation Program. Recognizing the potential benefits, the company decided to reach out to ensure they consistently provided training to their workforce while meeting ongoing improvement initiatives for health and safety.

When the OSHA consultant arrived for the walkthrough, they found no hazards, a testament to Tintometer鈥檚 already strong safety practices. However, the visit was just the beginning of a transformative journey. The company embraced a culture of continuous learning and adaptation, implementing new programs, enhancing training, increasing employee involvement, and refining their accident investigation and abatement procedures. They updated training materials, scheduled regular sessions, incorporated interactive methods, and encouraged continuous feedback.

The results were remarkable. Tintometer achieved zero workplace incidents, a significant milestone that underscored their commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. This success was further bolstered by their participation in the SHARP program, which reinforced their dedication to safety both at work and away.

Of course, the journey wasn鈥檛 without its challenges. Tintometer faced hurdles related to process change management and ensuring the repeatability of safety practices. Yet, their determination to overcome these obstacles only strengthened their resolve.

Working with the OSHA On-site Consultation Program had a profound impact on Tintometer. The company valued the fresh perspective that consultants brought, helping them identify areas for improvement and reinforcing their commitment to safety.

Injury and illness data from the years surrounding their first consultation visit tell a compelling story:

Injury and Illness Data
Year Number of Injuries and Illnesses Total Recordable Case Rate (TRC) Days Away, Restricted, and/or Transfer Rate (DART)
2020 0 0 0
2021 0 0 0

Tintometer鈥檚 proactive approach to workplace safety and health, supported by the OSHA On-site Consultation Program, has resulted in a safer work environment and a strong safety culture.
